Rural Libraries Conference RLC 2009

I Must Consult My Books - Rupert Giles

Now that the shortest days are upon us, we can take comfort in this: we are ever more close to February 14, 2009, which is the start of spring training for Major League Baseball.

Not only that but we are ever more close to April 29, 2009, which is the first day of the 2009 Loleta Fyan Small and Rural Libraries Conference. Once again, it will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort in fabulous Traverse City, Michigan. The three-day conference is April 29 - May 1, 2009.

There are 30 proposed programs to enjoy along with keynote speakers and Michigan authors Joe Heywood, Lorrie Hathaway, Sharon Kegerreis and illustrator Gijsbert van Frankenhuyzen. Also, vendor exhibits are planned and Marian the Librarian will offer her perspective on the library world. Keep watching for updates as there some unconfirmed events planned that involve decorated book trucks and Guitar Hero.

Early bird registration is $125 and will open in January. This includes all programs, materials and meals. Such a deal.

Although this conference takes place near the 45th parallel, special arrangements have been made to assure clear skies, warm breezes and no snow. The same guarantees do not apply to a Tiger win those dates. You may contact me at hullb1@michigan.gov or 517-373-3746 if you have question about the conference.
